Collected by Jan Straley and Shannon Atkinson. Given the informal name of Kruzof after the island where the specimen was recovered.

They had put disks of silicone between the vertebral epiphyses before we arrived to scan the specimen, and had cut them apart. Because of this many of the vertebra appear to have spikes on and around their articular surfaces.

The bones of the flippers (the humerus, ulna, radius, metacarpals, and phalanges) were immersed in Elmer's glue before we arrived and had sat on a flat surface to dry. This caused a number of problems with scanning, though we did try to mitigate the problems by removing as much of the excess as possible.
